tl;dr
- ChainPort now supports bridging to and from Scroll.
- Scroll is a bytecode-level zkEVM L2 built in public alongside Ethereum Foundation researchers. The Euclid upgrade achieved Stage 1 rollup status with 90% lower fees and 4x throughput.
- EtherFi leads TVL with lending markets and the ether.fi Cash Card, the first major crypto debit card running on a ZK rollup. Aave V3, Ambient, and SyncSwap are also live. Fees are under $0.005 per transaction.
Most chains describe themselves as "Ethereum-compatible." Scroll is Ethereum-equivalent at the bytecode level. Contracts deployed on Ethereum mainnet run on Scroll without modification. No auditing a port, no checking for subtle behavioral differences. The same code, the same execution environment, the same guarantees, at a fraction of the cost.
That distinction was built carefully and in public. Scroll's zkEVM was developed in collaboration with the Ethereum Foundation's Privacy and Scaling Explorations group, not behind closed doors. The approach reflects a deliberate choice: stay closer to Ethereum's actual architecture rather than optimize for shipping speed at the expense of compatibility or trust.
The result is over 110 million transactions processed, fees under $0.005 per transaction, and a user base that has put real money and real spending through the chain.
ChainPort now supports Scroll. Bridge any supported token to Scroll from Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, and more.
Why Scroll?
Euclid upgrade: Stage 1, 90% lower fees, 4x throughput
The Euclid upgrade, deployed to mainnet in April 2025, was the most significant change since Scroll's launch. It replaced the custom halo2 proving circuits with OpenVM, a general-purpose RISC-V zkVM developed by Axiom, and switched to Ethereum's native Merkle-Patricia Trie state commitment. The practical outcomes: a 90% reduction in batch commitment costs, 4x throughput improvement, and the removal of the circuit capacity bottleneck that previously limited transaction complexity.
Euclid also added enforced transaction inclusion and permissionless batch submission, giving users a censorship resistance mechanism and a liveness guarantee that doesn't depend on Scroll's sequencer staying cooperative. L2BEAT classified Scroll as a Stage 1 rollup following this upgrade, with an independent 9-of-12 Security Council. That's a meaningful milestone: most ZK rollups, including much larger ones, haven't reached Stage 1.
EtherFi: real-world spending on a ZK rollup
EtherFi chose Scroll as the settlement layer for its Cash product. EtherFi Borrowing Market and EtherFi Cash Liquid are the two largest protocols on Scroll by TVL. The ether.fi Cash Card is a crypto debit card that lets users spend yield-bearing assets in the real world, with the underlying transactions settling on Scroll. By the end of Q3 2025, the card had processed $58M in spending volume.
That's a different category of activity than DeFi trading. It means Scroll is processing actual consumer spending, not just on-chain liquidity flows.
What's live on Scroll
Veda, an on-chain capital allocator, holds significant TVL alongside EtherFi. Aave V3 is deployed on Scroll, providing the same lending infrastructure running across Ethereum and other major chains. Deposit assets to earn yield or borrow against collateral with the same contracts and risk parameters as mainnet.
Ambient Finance is the primary DEX on Scroll, using a concentrated liquidity model where LPs deploy capital in specific price ranges rather than across the full curve. SyncSwap also runs on Scroll with a multi-pool model supporting standard, stable, and classic pool types. For trading on Scroll, both are operational.
Scroll Canvas, the chain's native identity layer, uses Ethereum Attestation Service to give users on-chain credentials tied to their activity. It's infrastructure for reputation and participation rather than just transaction processing.
What can you bridge?
ChainPort supports WETH, WBTC, stablecoins, and a wide range of ERC-20 tokens to and from Scroll. The fee is shown before you confirm. Assets arrive in your wallet ready to use.
Scroll is fully EVM-compatible. MetaMask, Rabby, or any EVM wallet connects without additional setup.
How to bridge to Scroll
- Go to app.chainport.io and connect your wallet.
- Select your source chain and token, then set Scroll as your destination. Choose the token you want to receive. You can arrive with a different token than you send.
- Confirm. The fee is shown upfront before you sign anything.
